Bulldog Family:

The recent legislative session has brought about many changes to the education field. Some are exciting. Some are not. One such change affects transportation of out-of-district students, transfers. Effective at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, Texas Education Code requires that if we transport across district lines that we must accept all students regardless of attendance, grades, behavior, or test scores (TEC §34.007(1)). We prefer to select students that are the “cream of the crop” such as your child. Therefore, McDade will not be picking up students within another district’s boundaries. If your student is a transfer into McDade or transfer from McDade to Elgin, we will no longer be running any shuttle routes in the morning or the afternoon.

The transportation team has sought different solutions to this problem. With the 290 road construction and heavy traffic, we do not feel any of the options met the level of our concern for student safety. We realize this may cause an unexpected burden on some families. If any parent is interested in carpooling you can send your contact information to and we will share your information with other parents. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 512-273-2522 or
